// Roadmap

The road to launch.

Flare Engine goes public and open source (Apache-2.0) in October 2026. Here's what's shipped, what's in progress, and what lands at launch.

Shipped

  • Engine-powered hero

On demand, the landing hero runs real engine packages live via Skia / CanvasKit in your browser — not a video (the published web-renderer dogfood is in progress).

  • Docs, guides & package catalog

Getting-started, concept and showcase guides, and a generated catalog of the engine's package surface (v0.2.1).

  • Games showcase

A home for titles built on Flare — trailers, screenshots, and the stories behind them.

  • Brand & site

Live at flareengine.dev — mobile-first, accessible, and dark by design.

In progress

  • Engine dogfooding

Moving the hero's simulations and renderer onto the engine's published packages, so the showcase is the engine using itself.

  • Hero animation tuning

Live browser passes on the reactor, physarum, and spacetime showcases — plus a procedural cartography piece.

  • Real games content

Replacing placeholder art with shipped titles and their write-ups.

At the October 2026 launch

  • Public source

The repository opens and GitHub links go live across the site.

  • Public npm packages

@flare-engine/* publishes unrestricted — bun add works without a token.

  • Full API reference

A per-symbol TypeDoc reference generated from the engine's public package surface.

  • Community

A Discord opens alongside the public repo.

Dates are targets, not promises — the plan shifts as the work does.
